Enter the IP settings manually

Enter the IP settings manually, Since the automatic IP settings did not work, let’s try to set the IP address manually. First, we need to find your computer’s IP settings.

Find your computer’s IP settings

  1. On your computer, click Start, type cmd, and then press ENTER.Note: If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
  2. At the command prompt, type ipconfig, and then press ENTER.
  3. Find the network connection. (For example, “Local Area Network Connection” or “Wireless Network Connection.”)Write down the numbers for the following items:

  4. Create a unique IP address for your Xbox 360 and write it down. For example, add ten to the last number of your computer’s default gateway address. (For example, if your computer’s address is 192.168.1.1, use 192.168.1.11 as the console’s IP address.)Note: Each IP address on the network must be unique.

Method 5 (only when connected to a modem): Set a secondary MAC address

Some Internet service providers allow devices to access the Internet based on the device’s MAC address. If your computer can access the Internet using your modem, but your Xbox 360 console cannot, your console may need to use the same MAC address as your computer.

  1. On your computer, click Start, type cmd, and then press ENTER.Note: If you are using Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.
  2. At the command prompt, type ipconfig, and then press ENTER.
  3. Find your network connection (for example, “Local Area Network Connection” or “Wireless Network Connection”) and look for the line that starts with “Physical Address”.
  4. Note the 12-digit physical address. This is the MAC address of the computer.Now let’s set this MAC address on the 360 ​​consoles.
  5. On the console, select My Xbox, then System Settings.
  6. Select Network Settings.
  7. Select Wired Network or the wireless network name if prompted.
  8. Select Configure Network.
  9. On the Additional Settings tab, select Advanced Settings.

  11. Enter your computer’s MAC address, then select Done.
  12. Select Done.

Method 6 (only when connected to a modem): Specify PPPoE settings

If you connect to the Internet using a username and password (also known as PPPoE settings) on your computer, you must enter these details on your Xbox 360 console. You can do this by:

  1. On the console, select My Xbox, then System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Wired Network or the wireless network name if prompted.
  4. Select Configure Network.
  5. On the Additional Settings tab, select PPPoE Settings.
  6. Select User Name.
  7. Enter the username and select Done.
  8. Then enter the password and service name.Note: If you do not know the username, password, or service name, contact your Internet service provider.
  9. Press the B button on the controller, then test the connection.

Method 7: Turn on DHCP

A router or gateway can automatically assign an IP address to the console using the DHCP protocol.

Note: If DHCP is not enabled on your router or gateway, the Xbox 360 IP address starts with 169 or the address is 0.0.0.0. The IP settings of the console can be viewed by doing the following:

  1. On the console, select My Xbox, then System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Wired Network or the wireless network name if prompted.
  4. Select Configure Network.
  5. On the Basic Settings tab, select IP Settings.
